Q: Please tell me about your dividend policy.

A: Earth Corporation positions “the return of benefits to shareholders” as an important management issue, and strives to continue stable dividends while securing internal reserves to maintain continuous growth and a robust management structure. Based on this policy, we aim for a consolidated dividend on equity (DOE) ratio of 4-5%.

Q: What is the shareholder confirmation record date for payment of dividends?

A: The year-end shareholder confirmation record date is December 31.

Q: Do you pay out interim dividends?

A: Our current policy is to distribute dividends only at the end of the fiscal year. Earth’s consolidated and non-consolidated performance tends to decline in the second half compared to the first half, mainly because some business partners return unused products late in the year, and it is difficult to predict the volume of those returns. Another reason is that the sales of insecticides and returns of unused products may be impacted by summer weather, among other factors. With this in mind, at present, we do not distribute interim dividends; we only distribute year-end dividends based on management results for the full year.

Q: What is the relationship between Earth Corporation and the Otsuka Group?

A: Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. acquired ownership stake in Earth Corporation in February 1970. As the Otsuka Group’s origin and parent company, in August 1964, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory spun off its sales division and established Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In the first half of 1965, Earth was facing a management crisis and requested financial support from Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, a business partner at the time, to enable a management reorganization. Masatomi Otsuka, then a managing director at Otsuka Chemical Co., Ltd., was invited to act as President of Earth Corporation (currently acting as Special Advisor). Also, in March 1973, around the time that “Gokiburi Hoy Hoy” was released, Earth needed to procure capital to expand its business scale, and Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (by that time the core entity in the Otsuka Group) was one of the main companies that we turned to for financial support. That's how we have come to the present.
